Trinitas BRIDGE

Building Research Infrastructure to cross the Diagnostic Gap towards Entrepreneurship

An accelerator powered by Stichting Belangen Medische Diagnostiek en Trombosezorg

On 27 November 2026 the Trinitas BRIDGE call for proposals opens. This accelerator programme is made possible by Stichting Belangen Medische Diagnostiek en Trombosezorg (SBMDT), in collaboration with Trinitas Dx and carried out by Amsterdam UMC. A total of EUR 13 million is available for the programme, divided over two calls. This advance notice concerns call 1.

Programme objective

Trinitas BRIDGE stands for Building Research Infrastructure to cross the Diagnostic Gap towards Entrepreneurship. The programme funds public-private projects with sustainable societal impact in medical diagnostics, through effective and, where possible, combined use of in vitro diagnostics (IVD), medical imaging (IMG) and artificial intelligence (AI). The emphasis lies on public-private projects that address market failures, meet unmet medical needs or strengthen the innovative capacity of the sector.

Focus areas

An application must relate to at least one of the following focus areas:

  • Diagnostics outside the hospital: validation and implementation in general practice, occupational health care or at home.
  • Neglected technologies and neglected areas: promising diagnostics without a sound business case, and under-recognised complaint domains.
  • Integration of diagnostic data: laboratory values, imaging and AI combined in a validated diagnostic decision model.
  • Clinical validation of AI diagnostics: independent, multi-site validation of existing AI tools.

Core requirements

  • A consortium of at least one research organisation and one Dutch for-profit enterprise.
  • A project budget of EUR 500,000 to EUR 2,000,000. SBMDT funds at most 50%, up to EUR 1 million.
  • Co-financing of at least 50%. Enterprises contribute at least 10% (at TRL 4 to 6) or 20% (at TRL 7 to 8) of their contribution in cash. Knowledge institutions contribute fully in kind.
  • A minimum technology readiness level (TRL) of 4.
  • A preferred duration of four years.
  • Projects would not come about, or not sufficiently, without this funding.

Deadlines

The call opens on 27 November 2026 with a matching event. The procedure has two steps: a letter of interest by 15 January 2027 at the latest, and the full application by 1 April 2027 at the latest. The letter of interest is not a condition for submitting a full application.
